Bryan Potts Scholarship

"Bryan Potts, a member of the Rio Americano High School class of 1986, was a versatile student whose enthusiasm for living extended into all areas of his life. His qualities were much admired by his family and friends, and it is in remembrance of those qualities that this scholarship fund was created. It is the hope of the Bryan Potts Scholarship’s contributors and selection committee that, by annually recognizing a Rio Americano senior who shares Bryan’s joy of living, Bryan’s life will continue to touch young people in the community. The selection of the Bryan Potts Scholar is designed to identify a deserving student who best exemplifies Bryan’s personal characteristics. The selection committee will look for that student whose zest for life enriches others and whose inquisitiveness leads to greater knowledge and self-understanding. Ideally, the Bryan Potts Scholar will be an affectionate, warm person whose presence lends a touch of humor and vitality to every situation. Eligibility Requirements Be a graduating senior at Rio Americano High School Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale Plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or university or vocational school in the upcoming academic year Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) or California Dream Act Application. "Need is based on the Student Aid Index ( SAI ) scores from the FA FSA or The California Dream Act Application Application Requirements Submit the General Application before applying to the Bryan Potts Scholarship Essay: Please provide a 250 word essay explaining how you share the qualities deemed important by Bryan’s friends and family listed in the Bryan Potts scholarship description Reference Letters: two (2) reference letters are required. One (1) personal reference from a member of the community, employer, peer, pastor etc. and one (1) from from your school teacher, counselor, administrator or coach etc. Applicant will be interviewed by the schol"
