Program description

"Scholarship or Award Criteria: This scholarship gives priority to Black, African American, and Black/mixed race students. Other criteria include: A Descendant of enslavement. Applicants must be the descendant of an enslaved person in America. Documented evidence of ancestors’ enslavement is not required. Oral family history of ancestors’ enslavement is sufficient. Applicants will be asked to share what they know about their family history regarding enslavement. A resident and/or student from Alameda County, Contra Costa Count or/and Monterey County. US resident 18-30 years of age at the time award is granted; transfer and re-entry students are encouraged to apply GPA 3.0 or better Demonstrate financial need"
