Chemistry Research Mentorship Award

"Providing current undergraduate students with the opportunity to authentically engage in chemistry research in a supportive environment is instrumental in both retention and career development of STEM students. Through generous donations of: Stephen D. Morton, Robert C. Doban, and Ina S. and Stanley B. Mirviss, the Department of Chemistry has been given the opportunity to celebrate effective graduate student-undergraduate researcher mentorship through three Mentorship Awards. Undergraduate mentees who have received exceptional mentorship are encouraged to nominate their graduate student mentor(s) for these awards. Only one application for each nominated graduate student mentor will be accepted. If there are multiple undergraduate mentees nominating the same graduate student mentor, the mentees should submit only one application that includes letters of support from each individual mentee nominator. Eligibility: All enrolled chemistry graduate students are eligible to be nominated by their undergraduate mentee for the Mentorship Awards, regardless if their research is conducted in the Department of Chemistry or in another related Department. Non-chemistry graduate students conducting research with a Department of Chemistry faculty member can also be nominated; however, non-chemistry graduate students working with faculty outside of Chemistry (including affiliated Chemistry faculty) are not eligible to be nominated for these awards. Undergraduate nominators and graduate student mentors must both be enrolled students at the time of the nomination and must not have received one of the mentoring awards previously. Your graduate student mentor will be considered for all three mentorship awards by filling out this application and submitting a minimum of two supporting letters (one from yourself and one from your faculty research mentor)."
