"The Dr. Michael Maas Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Michael Maas following his passing from cancer in 2012. Michael, who served as administrator at RCCD from 1980 to 1988, was passionate about education and this was evident in his work. His motto was “students first”Ã¹. The scholarship supports students who excel academically in either math or science, but need financial assistance to reach their ultimate goal of earning a bachelor’s degree. It is awarded to a transferring RCCD student majoring in Math, Science, or STEM with a 3.5 GPA or higher and demonstrated financial need. Basic requirements and reviewer notes: Major: Math, Science or STEM Cumulative GPA required: 3.5 Financial need required: Yes Student activities, volunteer work required: None required Other special requirements: Must be planning to transfer and get a bachelor’s degree"
